Study assesses long-term risk of invasive breast cancer after pre-invasive disease

It isn’t immediately life-threatening, but can increase the risk of developing invasive breast cancer in the future. For both invasive breast cancer and death from breast cancer, the increased risk continued for at least 25 years after DCIS diagnosis. Opportunities for a more personalised risk-based approach to breast cancer screening might be possible, especially for younger women, they say.
