Bond University has leapt about 250 places up the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

The Gold Coast university is ranked in a band of 251-300 of 1799 institutions worldwide. Last year it was in a band of 501-600.

The influential rankings take into account teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income.

The university performed particularly well in the international outlook and citations categories.

Citations cover the number of times a university’s published work is cited by scholars globally.

The release of the ranking coincides with Bond University showcasing its research expertise at its annual Research Week.

Bond University Vice Chancellor and President Tim Brailsford said the ranking reflected a long-term strategy to develop research capacity through the mentoring of early and mid-career researchers by Bond’s own world-class researchers.

“The rise in our citation performance demonstrates the increasing reach and impact of Bond university research,” Professor Brailsford said.

“The 2022 ranking reflects our efforts and focus to improve our research performance, which has a direct impact on the quality and relevance of our teaching.”

In September Bond University was named Australia’s top university for educational experience for a 17th consecutive year.

The university’s number one ranking was confirmed in The Good Universities Guide 2023.
