Job descriptionWork environment
Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is one of Europe's top universities of technology, situated at the heart of a most innovative high- tech region. Thanks to a wealth of collaborations with industry and academic institutes, TU/e's research has real-world impact. TU/e has around 3,000 employees, 1600 PhD candidates and 250 Engineering Doctorate (EngD) trainees.
Innovation is the driving force behind the high-tech industry. Close collaboration between industry and universities is crucial for innovation. For this, we need excellent engineers. Our two-year post-master technological designer programs train the most talented graduates that already have a Master degree in a relevant area. The programs are aimed at engineers who want to further develop their skills in the field of technological design and who want to contribute to the needs of the high-tech industry by developing innovative solutions. EngD programs offer trainees the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and experience by means of a personal and practical design assignment with an industrial partner, under the supervision of experienced scientific design professionals. These programs all lead to an Engineering Doctorate (EngD).
The 4TU.School for Technological Design, Stan Ackermans Institute (4TU.SAI, www. 4tu.nl/sai/ ) is a joint initiative of the Dutch universities of technology: Wageningen University, TU Delft, Eindhoven University of Technology and University of Twente (and in time also University of Groningen). In 4TU.SAI the quality assurance, policy developments and alignment between 15 EngD programs is realized. The EngD programs at TU/e are offered in the Graduate School. This School is headed by a Dean Graduate School, who is responsible for pre-Master programs and 13 graduate programs that are each focused on one specific research domain with matching EngD and/or doctorate (PhD) programs.
For the policy support of SAI and the EngD programs at TU/e Graduate School we are looking for a dedicated strategic policy advisor SAI and TU/e EngD. This position is located at the TU/e Education Cluster (10 persons) within the General Affairs service. The General Affairs service is headed by the Secretary of the University and consists amongst other of the Executive Board Staff. This staff is responsible for supporting strategy and policy at the institutional level. The policy advisor works closely together with the colleagues in the team, and with the Dean Graduate School / Director 4TU.SAI who is located at Eindhoven University of Technology. You also have regular contact with colleagues of 4TU, and you participate in (international) meetings on relevant topics.
