Doctoral College

The Doctoral College is looking to appoint a Research in Practice Lead to enhance the placements offer across the South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership (SC.DTP), our collaborative partnership with the Universities of Brighton, Portsmouth and Chichester. This new role will work in partnership with the Deputy Director of the South Coast DTP, the Doctoral Training Manager, students and external partners to identify, develop and facilitate placements and placement opportunities for PhD students in the SCDTP and to use this expertise and knowledge to support the development of placement provision.

The Research in Practice Lead will work across the whole life-cycle, and will:

  • Define and support the placements offer for students
  • Work creatively with employers (including graduate recruiters, SME's, start-ups, charities and third sector organisations and public bodies) and students, to identify and facilitate placement opportunities
  • Ensure that student are well-positioned to successfully take up and complete placements with employers
  • Develop and review the placement offer and its benefit to students
  • The post holder will also work closely with the University's Careers, Employability and Student Enterprise service.
