About the research centre or Inria department

The Inria Grenoble research center groups together almost 600 people in 23 research teams and 7 research support departments.

Staff is present on three campuses in Grenoble, in close collaboration with other research and higher education institutions (University Grenoble Alpes, CNRS, CEA, INRAE, …), but also with key economic players in the area.

Inria Grenoble is active in the fields of high-performance computing, verification and embedded systems, modeling of the environment at multiple levels, and data science and artificial intelligence. The center is a top- level scientific institute with an extensive network of international collaborations in Europe and the rest of the world.

Context

Position: Research engineer at INRIA – Grenoble, MORPHEO team

Date: The position is open and the candidate can start as soon as possible. Funding is for 12 months. A start in Septembre/October 2023 could be possible.

Advisors: The retained candidate will be advised by Sergi Pujades at Morpheo INRIA Grenoble.

Assignment

Context:

The position is at the Morpheo Team in Inria Grenoble, the French national institute of computer science and automation. The research topics of the Morpheo team lie in the Computer Vision, Computer Graphics and Machine Learning fields, with a focus on the acquisition, the modeling and inference of dynamic geometric shapes. Recent advances in the team have lead to major publications, such as A in the Computer Vision and Computer Graphics communities.

Main activities

Objectives

The mission of the engineer will be to improve the existing research code, in terms of usability, efficiency and robustness. The created software will provide a solid base to conduct future research.

Skills

Candidate Profile:

  • Solid programming skills, e.g. python, pytorch, pytorcbD.
  • Solid mathematical knowledge in geometry, linear algebra and statistics.
  • Experience with deep learning and shape modeling is a plus.
  • Experience with mesh manipulations (meshing, rigging, … ), e.g. Blender / MeshLab is a plus.
  • Good English level. French is not required.
  • A specific section in the application letter must explain the personal experience in these areas
