Research project or operation : Luminescent compounds have received a great deal of attention in the last decades owing to their potential and real market applications in light- emitting devices, such as Organic Light-Emitting Diodes (OLEDs). As a consequence of spin-statistics, electrically generated excitons possess a 1:3 singlet-to-triplet ratio, limiting the maximum internal quantum efficiency (ICE) of the device to 25% when classical fluorescent materials are employed. Two alternative approaches for exciton harvesting have been proposed, namely triplet and singlet harvesting, to achieve theoretical ICE up to 100%. The interdisciplinary project BOOSTOLED funded by the ANR 2022 call (international collaborative research project - PRCI) aims at innovative purely organic, thermally-activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) molecular compounds for efficient red to near infrared (NIR) emission and their use in high-brightness and efficient tandem flexible OLEDs. This project will be carried out in the frame of a collaborative network between the University of Strasbourg in France (Dr. Matteo Mauro and Dr. Abdelaziz Jouaiti) where synthesis and photophysical characterization will be carried out, and the Yuan Ze University (Pr. Chih-Hao Chang) in Taiwan (device fabrication).
