Offer Description

Would you like to contribute to a large-scale research project?

Join the research laboratory Environnement Territoires en Transition, Infrastructures, Sociétés (ETTIS) – at the University of Bordeaux!

ETTIS (Environment, Territories in Transition, Infrastructures, and Societies) conducts multidisciplinary research (sociology, economy, geography, statistics, agronomy, engineering sciences) on socio-ecological interdependencies, environmental inequalities, socio-ecological transitions, performance and quality of services that are resilient to global change.

The post-doctorate is part of the activities of the Impulse Research Network (RRI) «Tackling Global Changes».

Funded by the University of Bordeaux, it is a consortium of Bordeaux researchers in environmental and social sciences working on the dynamics of socio-ecological systems. The aim is to identify and analyse the interactions and interdependencies between ecological systems and societies involved in the “Tackling global change”.

In this context, we are looking for a Post-Doctorant whose studies will focus on “ The wood industry and air conditioning policies in the building sector ”.

Main activities :

In a collective dynamic, you will work on decision-making in the wood construction segment of the forest-wood industry in relation to climate change mitigation issues.

By adopting an approach combining political sociology and political economy, you analyze the industrial policies and regulatory modalities associated with the development of the use of wood in construction.

As such :

  • You conduct a bibliographical work on the political dimension of the regulation of construction in general, and that of wood in particular, with climate change and, thus, participate in the elaboration of a grid of analysis of the (no) decision in the context of government of an industry
  • You produce empirical work (documentary and interviews) on the role of wood in the adoption and implementation of the 2020 Environmental Regulations in the building industry in Nouvelle Aquitaine
  • You write and submit a peer-reviewed scientific article
  • You work in constant contact with researchers from different disciplines and contribute to other actions of the RRI Tackling network
  • You present your research as part of this network's activities
