Application deadline: 30.09.2023

The Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1391 “Andere Ästhetik” (“Different Aesthetics”) is a research network funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) which aims to arrive, by means of our interdisciplinary research programme, at a revised evaluation of the contribution made by pre-modern aesthetic acts and artefacts within the field of aesthetic research.

PhD Student Position / Doctoral Candidate / Research Assistant (m/f/d, 65%, E13 TV-L)

The position is available from 1 January 2024 (or earlier) and limited to 30 June 2027.

Project C05 strives to reconstruct a ‘different' aesthetics of co-creativity in Early Modern English literature and systematically analyses both the communality of literary products (Working Area 1) and the literary productivity of communities (Working Area 2). In addition to drama and poetry, C05 increasingly includes pragmatic texts as well (e.g. sermons, treatises, manuals, contracts). The underlying hypothesis is that concepts of the communality of (literary) text production can be deduced not only from characteristics of and reflections on texts but also praxeologically from communities and their text production. Anyone with a genuine interest in early modern English literature is encouraged to apply!

Duties:

  • conducting research related to the project; organisation of and participation in project-related workshops and conferences
  • (co-)editing the conference proceedings
  • participation in research events of the CRC
  • Requirements:

  • The position is open to graduates of any university who have obtained an academic degree equivalent to the German Diplom, Staatsexamen or Magister Artium.
  • The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (PhD).

In case of equal qualification and experience physically challenged applicants or applicants with equivalent status are given preference.

As the University of Tübingen intends to increase the proportion of female employees in science, women are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates will be officially employed by the administration of the University of Tübingen.

    Applications should include:

  • cover letter, curriculum vitae, academic certificates, if applicable list of publications

  • Please send applications as one pdf-file.

Applications are to be submitted by 30.09.2023 and should be sent by E-mail to m.bauerspam [email protected] and angelika.zirkerspam [email protected]. For questions regarding project C05, please contact either of the addresses or Eva-Maria Haag, +49 (7071) 29-78459.
