The research group of PD Dr. Stefan Freigang of the Division of Experimental Pathology is seeking a PhD student in immunology / immunopathology.
Job description
Starting as soon as possible or by agreement, a PhD student position in the field of cardiovascular immunobiology is available in the group of PD Dr. Stefan Freigang at the Institute of Pathology, University of Bern, Switzerland. Our research focuses on the immune recognition of lipids in inflammation and immunopathology, particularly on cross-talk mechanisms linking lipid metabolism and vascular inflammation. This PhD project aims to investigate the lipid-signaling and pathogenic metabolic reprogramming of immune cells in the context of atherosclerosis.
The position is funded for three years.
Requirements
We are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic, and highly motivated candidate with an academic degree in life sciences or biomedical sciences acceptable for matriculation at a Swiss University (Bologna compatible). The candidate should be proactive, have good communication skills and possess an aptitude to work in a team as well as independently. Good knowledge of English is expected; German is helpful, but not necessary. The ideal candidate has a strong background in cellular and molecular biology and is familiar with common immunology techniques. Prior experience with in vivo animal experimentation and murine models of disease is an advantage. Only applicants with outstanding CVs and references can be considered for this position.
