The Dresden High Magnetic Field Laboratory (HLD) focuses on modern materials research in high magnetic fields.
The Department of Strongly Correlated Electron Systems is looking for a PhD student (f/m/d) Magnetic properties of modern quantum materials. The position will be available from 1 April 2023. The employment contract is limited to three years.
Your tasks: - High-resolution measurements of the thermodynamic and spectroscopic properties of novel quantum magnets - Development of advanced experimental measurement techniques for studies at extreme sample conditions - Presentation of results at international conferences and publication in peer-reviewed journals - Collaboration in national and international cooperation projects of the HLD, for example in the cluster of excellence, ct.qmat - Supervision of Bachelor and Master students
Your profile: - Master´s or equivalent degree in Physics with background in quantum magnetism - Good certified study performance - Experience in operation of cryostats and spectroscopic or thermodynamic probes of condensed-matter materials - Hands-on experience in the development of new experimental setups - Strong engagement in original research, teamwork, and good communication skills
