The Chair of Quantitative Methods at the Department of Business Administration of the University of Bern is dedicated to research and teaching in the fields of Operations Research, Data Science, Project Management, and Big Data.

We are looking for a committed candidate to join our team as soon as possible or by an agreed-upon start date. The research objective of the position is to develop models and algorithms for applications in the field of Data Science.

Tasks

  • Academic research in the area of Data Science with the goal of writing a dissertation
  • Teaching assistance at Bachelor and Master level
  • Supervision of Bachelor and Master theses and student projects
  • Requirements

  • An excellent Master's degree (University or ETH/TU) in Business Administration, Economics, Computer Science, or Mathematics with some reference to Operations Research or Data Science
  • High interest in analytical thinking, scientific work, and academic teaching
  • Excellent German and English skills
  • Knowledge of a programming language (e.g., Python)
  • Advantageous: knowledge of optimization software (e.g. Gurobi or CPLEX)
