PhD Researcher (m/f/d, E 13 TV-L, 65% ) Faculty of Science, Department of Pharmacy and Biochemistry

Application deadline: 30.06.2023

The Dept. of Pharmacology, Experimental therapy and Toxicology at the University of Tübingen is offering a

PhD position

(translational research on thrombotic and thrombo-inflammatory disorders), (m/f/d, 65% of an E13 TV-L position funded by the DFG- RT2816https: // www. rtg2816.com/ )

to be filled in as soon as possible. The position will be offered for three years starting from June 2023.

The successful candidate will work in the group of Dr. Madhumita Chatterjee. The translational project will investigate the molecular mediators of CXCR7 signalling in platelets and vascular cells and explore its therapeutic application in thrombosis and thrombo-inflammatory pathologies https: // www. rtg2816.com/project-chatterjee

We offer an internationally connected vibrant multi-disciplinary research environment which promotes cultural diversity. We will provide adequate research training, advanced academic orientation and training in soft skills to develop you for a career in research, academia or pharmaceutical industry. The candidate will be motivated and prepared to participate in national and international conferences organized within the specialized research area of Thrombosis-Haemostasis (e.g. Gesellschaft für Thrombose und Hämostaseforschung-GTH, International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis- ISTH, European Platelet Network-EUPLAN) where they will present their work and get an opportunity to directly connect to the national and international network of platelet biologists.

We are looking for highly motivated candidates with excellent analytical skills, enthusiasm for an exciting project, and an urge to make a translational impact in the exploration of novel therapeutic drug targets. The doctoral candidate should be inquisitive, enthusiastic and willing to integrate into the multidisciplinary group of researchers within the RTG2816. The ideal candidate will have an academic background and experience in Biology, Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine or related disciplines. Previously acquired experimental skills in molecular cell biology is a merit but not a requirement. The candidates will be trained and engage in methods like flowcytometry, omics analysis (proteomics-phosphoproteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics), ex vivo and in vivo platelet function tests, cell culture, biochemical assays, confocal microscopy, intravital microscopy, bioinformatics analysis, and animal models of thrombo-inflammatory diseases like Deep Vein Thrombosis-(DVT).

Interested candidates are asked to send a CV (including a list of publications, if any), letter of motivation and a transcript of academic records to madhumita.chatterjeespam [email protected] Interested candidates may visit the Department/laboratory and Dr. Chatterjee in person or request an online meeting over Zoom to discuss further project details.

Disabled persons will be preferred in case of equal qualifications. We are directly associated with the Athena mentoring programme organized by the University of Tübingen, which supports the development and empowerment of women scientists. Therefore, we highly encourage applications from women.

We will consider all applications received up to and including 30.6.2023
