Applications are invited for a four years position as PhD Research Fellow in education and democratization to be based at the Department of Education, Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Oslo (UiO).
The PhD position is connected to the development of the ongoing research project «Educating Democracy». A short summary: The research project Educating Democracy analyzes the culturally situated narratives on democracy education in Norwegian schools today. The goal is to examine previous and current conceptions of ‘democracy', ‘education', and the relation between them, with the ambition of strengthening, advancing, and renewing models and theories that support a more sustainable and fruitful democracy education.
The candidate is affiliated with the research group Humanities Studies in Education (HumStud) at Department of Education, UiO, as well as an international network, and will be given the opportunity to work with researchers across the world. More about the positionThe fellowship period is up to four years, with three years devoted to research education. The position entails a compulsory work load of 25% that consists of teaching and supervision duties and research assistance.
The research fellow must take part in the Faculty's approved PhD program and is expected to complete the project within the set fellowship period. The main purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.

No one can be appointed for more than one PhD Research Fellowship period at the University of Oslo.
