PhD Position in Theoretical Cosmology60 %
Applications are invited for a PhD position in Theoretical Cosmology at the Center for Theoretical Astrophysics and Cosmology, University of Zurich, Switzerland.
Your responsibilitiesWorking with Prof. Yoo, the successful candidate will work on modeling galaxy clustering and develop applications to measurements from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI). The DESI is delivering unprecedented amount of precision measurements of the large-scale structure of the Universe. It is therefore timely to revisit our theoretical modeling of galaxy clustering in detail and ensure that the theoretical predictions for cosmological interpretation of data are as accurate as the measurement precision demands. Going beyond the standard modeling, we will look into the impacts of systematic errors in theoretical modeling such as a non-zero spatial curvature, relativistic effects, redshift-evolution, the integral constraint, wide angle effects and so on. The measurement precision at the BAO scale will reach 0.1 % in the DESI. The successful candidate is expected to havegood understanding of theoretical cosmology and working knowledge in numerical computation.
Your profileApplicants are expected to have a master degree in physics, astronomy, or any other related area.
