Job descriptionA promising pathway for the decarbonization of the building stock is the application of adaptive façade technologies that act in response to dynamic weather conditions and occupants' needs. In this project, we will collaborate with industry partners to harness the latest developments in automation and advanced sustainable materials, to test and implement novel building skin solutions. In particular, the project will focus on the potential of dynamic thermal insulation and smart radiation management to minimize building energy demand without compromising indoor environmental quality.
You will play an active role in this process by providing insights about building performance (e.g. thermal comfort and energy efficiency) to the R&D team. The project will develop novel algorithms to implement adaptive façade technologies in building performance simulation software, and will use these to evaluate the performance of various design concepts, while simultaneously also optimizing operational control strategies of such systems. Through the combination of sensitivity analysis and uncertainty propagation techniques, the intention is to provide rich decision-support and ease the adoption of such innovative technologies in practice.
Your research will be embedded in the Building Performance group at the Department of the Built Environment. In the project, you will collaborate with a consortium of companies and research institutes across Europe.
Job requirementsA meaningful job in a dynamic and ambitious university, in an interdisciplinary setting and within an international network. You will work on a beautiful, green campus within walking distance of the central train station. In addition, we offer you:
