Call for Applications for ONE Research Grant for the project “ANATHEMA: TECHNOLOGY FOR AGELESS SEXUAL HEALTH” (AAL/0005/2020), FUNDED BY THE AAL JOINT PROGRAMME 2020, AT THE FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY AND EDUCATIONAL SCIENCES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF PORTO (FPCEUP)

The Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP) hereby opens this Call for Applications for one research grant for the project “ANATHEMA: Technology for Ageless Sexual Health” (Ref: AAL/0005/2020”, funded by the AAL JOINT PROGRAMME 2020, in progress at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP).

1. Research field / Scientific area: Psychology

2. Admission requirements:

To apply for the research grant, applicants must comply with the following requirements, for which documentary evidence must be provided:

  • Master in Psychology;
  • Current enrolment in a PhD Program in Psychology, or similar, or in a non-degree granting course integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution (requirement to be proven at the time of hiring);
  • Research experience.
  • 3. Preferred requirements:

    a) Master's dissertation in Clinical Psychology or in Sexology, or in areas considered to be related by the jury;

    b) Dissertation in the scope of human sexuality and oncologic disease;

    c) Experience in participating in funded research projects on the theme of sexual health in senior populations and oncologic disease;

    d) Proficiency in Portuguese and English (spoken and written);

    4. Work Plan:

    The purpose of this contract is to perform the following tasks, under the "ANATHEMA" project:

    a) Bibliographic review and systematization,

    b) Conducting clinical interviews/applying assessment protocols to seniors and to people with chronic diseases;

    c) Collecting, analyzing, and processing quantitative and qualitative data;

    d) Scientific publication and dissemination.

    5. Applicable Legislation and Regulations :

    The present call is governed by the FCT Regulations for Research Fellowships approved by the Regulation no. 950/2019 (published in the Series II of the DR, of 16th December) University of Porto Regulations for Research Fellowships approved by the Regulation n.º 184/2021 (published in the Series II of the DR, of 3 rd March) and by the Research Fellowship Holder Statute (approved by Law no. 40/2004, of 18th of August, in its current version)

    6. Workplace :

    The work will be carried out at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP), located at Rua Alfredo Allen, 4200-135 Porto, under the scientific supervision of Professor Ana Luísa de Matos Dias Quinta Gomes. Travels to other institutions within the city of Porto are also planned.

    7. Duration :

    The scholarship will have an expected duration of 6 months, on an exclusive basis, possibly renewable, depending on the project's budget allocation and duration. The project is scheduled to end on December 31, 2023.

    8. Monthly maintenance allowance amount :

    The monthly maintenance allowance is € 1.199,64€/month according to FCT. Payment will be made by FPCEUP by bank transference. In addition, the grant holder will be covered by personal accident insurance.

    9. Evaluation methods :

    The merit of the candidate (MC) and, if the jury deems it necessary, a selection interview (I) for the first three best classified candidates in the MC. The final classification will be obtained by the following formula 80% (MC) + 20% (I), on a scale of 100 points. If the interview does not take place, the final classification will be that obtained using the merit of the candidate.

    Criteria and weighting factors for the MC:

    a) Dissertation in Clinical Psychology or in Sexology in the scope of human sexuality and oncologic disease and classification obtained (post-Bologna) or graduation classification (pre-Bologna) - 20%,

    b) Documented experience of research activities in the context of Onco- Sexology - 30%,

    c) Experience of participation in funded research projects on the subject of sexual health in senior populations and oncologic disease - 40%.

    d) English language proficiency - 10%,

    In the interview, if it takes place, the following will be evaluated:

    a) The candidate's scientific background (40%),

    b) Research experience within the scope of Sexual Health in Seniors or with Oncologic Disease (60%).

    In the event that the selected scholarship holder withdraws, the final ranking list of candidates in this competition may be used to replace them. If none of the candidates demonstrates that they have the profile indicated to carry out the work plan, the jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship to the competition.

    11. Disclosure of the results :

    Evaluation results will be communicated by email to the address provided by the candidates in the application form. In compliance with the provisions of the Article 121 of the Code of Administrative Procedure (“Código do Procedimento Administrativo”), after being notified, candidates have 10 working days to submit a formal rebuttal.

    12.3 The following documents are mandatory, under penalty of exclusion from the Call:

    a) Motivation letter (in English);

    b) Curriculum vitae (in portuguese);

    c) Copy of the qualification certificate (Master's degree), indicating the classification of the dissertation;

    d) Declaration of eligibility (see annex);

    e) Other documents that the candidates consider relevant for the assessment of their merit (if applicable).

    12.3 If the above-mentioned documents are not submitted in the application, it will result in the administrative exclusion of the candidates.

    12.4 Applicants may also add other documents they consider relevant for curriculum evaluation.

    12.5 Documents must be attached directly to the application message, without links to external platforms/drives. In order to guarantee the reading of all documents, the preferred recording format is the Portable Document Format (.pdf).
