Offer Description

One Research Fellowship for MSc holder is open within the scope of the Project INSECTERA, (PRR-Mobilizing Agendas), funded by the Program Contract of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) funding, under Dispatch 11888-B/2021 of November 30th, signed between Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and DGES-Direção- Geral do Ensino Superior, and Decree-Law 57/2016 of August 29th, subject to the following conditions:

1. Scientific field : Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

2. Admission requirements : Candidate must hold a master degree in Chemistry or related fields.

Other requirements : Proven laboratory experience in in the use of supercritical CO2 in separation, extraction and drying processes of the materials; excellent command of the English language, spoken and written; immediate availability.

3. Workplan: Development of tasks to use the supercritical guarantee (supercritical CO2) of Insect Biomass Display. Optimization of the assurance processes using the combination with ionic liquids and eutectic systems as well as the characterization of the obtained extracts involving spectroscopic (NMR, FTIR-ATR), calorimetric (TGA, DSC), porosimetry, nitrogen adsorption and microscopic techniques (SEM, TEM), among others.

4. Rules and regulations: Law Nº. 40/2004, of 18 August, amended and republished by Decree-Law No. 202/2012 of 27 August (Statute of Scientific Research Fellows) and amended by Decree-Law No. 233/2012 of 29 October, by Law No. 12/2013 of 29 January, by Decree -Law No. 89/2013, of 9 July and Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of 28 August; Fellowships and grants regulations in force since June 7th, 2021, and Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. in force (https: // www. fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/docs/RegulamentoBolsasFCT2019.pdf).

5. Workplace : The work is carried out at the Department of Chemistry, NOVA School of Science and Technology, NOVA University Lisbon, under the scientific guidance of Professor Luís Branco.

6. Fellowship duration : The fellowship lasts for 12 months, starting in June 2023. The fellowship contract may be renewed up to the end of the project.

7. Monthly maintenance allowance : The net monthly allowance is €1.199,64, according to the table of values of the scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in Portugal (according to the Table of Grants Related to Fellowships – 2022). Payment will be made monthly by bank transfer.

8. Selection methods : The selection process is made in two stages and only candidates who have met the admission requirements will be admitted. The first stage is for curriculum evaluation and the parameters are as follows: laboratory experience in the project field (70%); publications and communications (20%); motivation letter (10%). Only candidates with a total score equal to or greater than 75%, can pass to the second stage (those who do not reach the 75%, will be excluded). The second stage of evaluation can consist of an interview if the panel deems it necessary. If the interview takes place, the final score will be determined by weighted score of the two stages (50% for the curriculum evaluation and 50% for the interview).

9. Composition of the Selection Panel : Chairperson: Professor Luís Branco; Efective Members: Professor Ana Isabel Aguiar-Ricardo and Professor Teresa Casimiro; Substitute Members: Professor João Paulo Noronha and Professor Mário Diniz.

10. Form of publicity/notification of results : The list of admitted and excluded candidates and the final list of classification will be sent by electronic mail with receipt of delivery to all candidates, within a maximum period of 90 working days after the deadline for the submission of applications. Candidates who want to apply for effective review, can do it within 10 working days, under the terms of the Administrative Procedure Code in force in Portugal. At the end of the period set for the effective review and in the absence of any response, the rank list will become definitive. Candidates who want to file a complaint, should do it within 15 working days (to the email address used for notification), or appeal to the School Board, within 30 working days (to the email address [email protected]).

11. Application deadline and procedures : This call is open from May 16th to 29th, 2023.

Applications must be sent to the Principal Investigator, Professor Luís Branco (E-mail: [email protected]), and the reference “PRR-INSECTERA” must be mentioned in the subject and in the title of the application email.

The application must consist of a single PDF file including:

i) Motivation letter;

ii) Detailed curriculum vitae (including email address and telephone contact);

iii) Documents proving the master degree or a declaration on honor stating that the degree will be obtained up to the application deadline;

iv) Up-to-date statement attesting to the candidate's professional status, with an indication of the nature of the bond, duties and teaching hours in annual average, if applicable, which may be replaced by a declaration on honor, if not exercising any professional or service provision activity;

v) Two email contacts must be provided for reference check.

Note : For academic degrees conferred by a foreign higher education institution, it is mandatory to present the registration of the recognition of the academic degree and the conversion of the final classification to the Portuguese scale (process regulated by Decree-Law no. 341/2007, of 12 October), or alternatively, obtaining equivalence/recognition of academic degrees (process regulated by Decree-Law no. 283/83, of 21 June).
