Description XR technologies raise important ethical concerns, such as the extreme visual realism associated with violence or adult content in VR or the exploitation of users' privacy in AR. This thesis project will investigate the ethical and socio-technical requirements of XR design and its use in different application domains, including cultural sector, industry, learning and education as well as entertainment. The goal is to investigate ethical concerns in XR domain with respect to the physical/virtual environment in which the technology is used and with respect to its different group of users. The purpose is to identify the potential ethical risks of XR technologies and to explore and suggest safe, inclusive, and trustworthy solutions.
You will be expected to do a literature study in order to get familiar with what the research field looks like today, and then start with simpler explorative ideas and eventually extend or develop upon more focused user- centred studies. This will be a research-oriented master thesis.
