Objectives: Understanding the challenges in communicating science about neutrinos and dark matter to children focusing on the gender dimension to understand how gender stereotypes develop in the 5/9 age group and how to use scientific capacity to develop a stereotype intervention.
Expected Results: Material for primary school teachers; videogame on neutrinos and dark matter.
Responsibilities:
By EU requirements, eligible candidates may be of any nationality and at the date of recruitment (means the first day of the employment of the researcher for the purposes of the action) should comply with the following rules:

The ESR will carry out research on the communication and dissemination of the science of the ITNThey will focus on the specific difficulties that arise in communication the invisible universe
They will draw from established research in science communication but will contextualize it to the specific realm of neutrinos, dark matter, axions. These topics are particularly difficult to explain to the general public, despite being highly fascinating. The fact that they involve invisible particles and hidden worlds provides an initial barrier that needs to be overcome. The ESR will identify the challenges and explore possible solutions. On a practical level, they will put their findings to use by developing material (posters, youtube videos, brochures, materials for teachers, a video game for young children) which will be tested in locally organized events and, after tuning, will be made available to the all network. Research will involve carrying out surveys and interviews with the public and in gathering feedback from teachers on how children have received the materialAt each node, these tools will be adapted for language and cultural aspects and used in local outreach activities.
For the outreach ESR, similar conditions are in place. The ESR will be supervised jointly by ProfPascolifor the science aspects, and by Dr. Edwards and Prof. Fabbri, for the outreach aspectsPastoral care will be provided by the chair of postgraduate studies for the IPPP, who meets the ESR yearly. The ESR will have Dr. Mena as academic mentor and will work closely with them. The ESR will work closely with the Outreach team in UNIBO, receiving an additional level of supervision.
