VIU research projects receive funding boost

BC government invests in three projects with conservation and resource management themes. Vancouver Island University (VIU) is pleased to receive funding from the BC Knowledge Development Fund (BCKDF) to support three faculty-driven research projects. The human dimensions of sustainability and resilience led by Dr. Sean Sloan received $16,960. “Vancouver Island University is committed to advancing knowledge related to rural, remote and coastal resilience and human adaptation to climate change,” said Dr. Nicole Vaugeois, Associate Vice-President of Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity at VIU. “This funding will enable our researchers to investigate pressing issues while providing high-impact training opportunities for students.”To learn more, please see the BC Government news release.

Tri-kingdom eco-evolutionary dynamics and implications for conservation, led by Drs. Jasmine Janes and Jamie Gorrell, received $142,434. The View from 2117: Human Actions, Consequences and Perspectives on Mountain Regions led by Drs. Lindsay McCunn, Pam Shaw and Farhad Moghimehfar received $59,429. The human dimensions of sustainability and resilience led by Dr. Sean Sloan received $16,960.
