Nordic SPARK programs to Silicon Valley

June 06, 2023

Nordic SPARK programs have successfully collaborated over several years to boost the emergence of new innovative solutions in the health tech and life science field. The first jointly organized physical event was in September 2022 at NLSDays in Malmø where SPARK Norway, SPARK Finland and SPARK Denmark had a one hour Fireside chat on a central stage. It proved to be a great way to introduce the Nordic SPARK program network for a Nordic audience. The next event was in November 2022 at Nordic SPARK Showcase Event in Helsinki—just before the SLUSH event. The third major joint activity is the upcoming Silicon Valley tour of Nordic SPARK programs.

Nordic SPARK programs have successfully collaborated over several years to boost the emergence of new innovative solutions in the health tech and life science field. Collaboration in mentoring of the projects started a few years ago, and we are now building the next level joint efforts.

During the past few years, we have been building and enabling online webinar series and “Innovators café” events with our European SPARK program network. It was a fantastic way of celebrating SPARKees (our projects) and our alumni with our friends, enablers, supporters and other stakeholders.

The third major joint activity is the upcoming Silicon Valley tour of Nordic SPARK programs. In total, there will be 20 participants from SPARK Norway and SPARK Finland having numerous meetings with academic organizations, programs, and laboratories at Stanford and UCSF ecosystems. We also have meetings with business, finance and tech transfer professionals. One of the key reasons for the tour is that we are jointly attending Stanford Drug Discovery Symposium 2023, which we also support.  For next year, we are looking forward to having participants also from the Danish SPARK program.

This is one example how the Nordic program network wants to improve the impact of the SPARK projects and at the same time bring our programs, projects, and emerging startups to the wider audiences around the world.

We look forward to an exciting week in San Francisco Bay Area!
