At the Department of Mathematics in the working group applied analysis at Technische Universität Darmstadt the position of a

Research Associate/Doctoral Candidate (all genders) – 75 %

is to be filled as of 01.07.2023 for a period of 3 years.

The position is located in the Department of Applied Analysis under the direction of Prof. Dr. Matthias Hieber and is a position within the DFG-funded project of the Research Union "Mathematical Investigations of Geophysical Fluid Models: Analysis and Numerics".

Tasks

  • Analysis of coupled atmosphere-sea-ice-ocean models with regard to free interfaces
  • Stochastic primitive equation subject to transport noise
  • Fluid-structure interactions for geophysical flows
  • Prerequisites

  • Above average scientific university degree (diploma or master) in mathematics or a related subject
  • Very good knowledge of fluid mechanics and its analysis
  • Experience in geophysical flows
  • Interest in mathematical research
  • Very good knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Opportunity for further qualification (doctoral dissertation) is given. The fulfillment of the duties likewise enables the scientific qualifications of the candidate.
