As regulations evolve, marine sediments extracted from navigation channels, in particular, will soon no longer be able to be redeposited at sea but will have to be brought on land. These deposits can be valorised beyond the realization of simple road sub-layers.

In the southern Aquitaine region, two sources of sediments have been identified: the Arcachon basin and the port of Bayonne. The SIBA (Syndicat Intercommunal du Bassin d'Arcachon) has carried out some fairly conclusive experiments for the creation of cycle paths and forestry tracks.

The purpose of this study is to continue to explore ways of reusing marine sediments for applications such as cycle paths, DFCI (Defence of Forests Against Fire) roads and filling grout. The use of sediments requires stabilisation. Low-carbon binders will be used to develop materials with a low environmental impact.
