Offer Description

The De Wulf lab at the Department of Cellular, Computational, and Integrative Biology (CIBIO), University of Trento, Italy, is looking for an outstanding, highly motivated post-doctoral scientist to study the activity of conserved oncogenic kinase RioK1 in the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The research project wishes to understand how this kinase regulates (peri)centromere transcription activity (by RNA polymerase II), silencing (by Sir histone deacetylases), and transcript turnover (by various RNA processing activities) in order to ensure (1) timely centromeric nucleosome formation, (2) correct kinetochore assembly, and (3) faithful chromosome segregation.

The candidate should hold a recent Ph.D. degree. S/he must be motivated to excel in science, be curious, creative, open-minded, and proactive. Specific Requirements

Candidates with some expertise in yeast genetics (strain crossing and tetrad dissection, cellular transformation), biochemistry (protein purifications), cell biology (growing yeast, making yeast cell extracts), and/or molecular biology (RNA isolation, cDNA production, western blot, PCR, RT-qPCR, cloning) are encouraged to apply. Experience with live-cell fluorescence microscopy is much appreciated!
