The Neuroscience department Paris Seine (CNRS UMR8246/Inserm U1130) is centered on analysing the formation and plasticity of neural circuits and neural systems in order to decipher fundamental aspects of brain and spinal cord neurophysiology, and the resulting behaviors. This should unravel the molecular and cellular mechanisms underpinning the differentiation and functional insertion of neurons into developing neural networks, and the remodelling of these networks in normal or pathological conditions.
Astrocyte signaling in brain energy balance center Brain regulates body energy balance and energy metabolism. Understanding the signaling pathways will identify central targets ameliorating metabolic disorders. While diverse neuronal pathways are unveiled, the function of astrocytes in hypothalamus metabolic center is largely unresolved. Combining mouse genetics, in vivo deep brain imaging and metabolic behavioral readout, this project aims at parsing the signaling basis underlying astrocyte participation in the central control of energy metabolism.
