Offer DescriptionA tender is open for the attribution of one Scholarship for a master student, within the topics Edge/cloud computing and IoT, in the Software Technologies for Cyber-Physical Systems Laboratory, under the following conditions:
1.SCIENTIFIC AREA
Informatics, Computer, Electrical Engineering, or related areas.
2.ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must hold a Bachelor degree and be enrolled in the academic year 2032/24 in the 1st year of the Critical Computational Systems Engineering Master course at ISEP.
If the qualification has been granted by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled until the act of contracting.
Enrolment in the academic year 2032/24 in the 1st year of the Critical Computational Systems Engineering Master course must be completed by the time of hiring.
3.DURATION
The scholarship will last for 6 months, scheduled to probably start at October 2023, and eventually renewable in accordance with the project's objectives and its budget, up to the limit established in the legislation, to be carried out on an exclusive basis, according to the regulations for advanced training of human resources of the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia and ISEP.
4.PURPOSE OF ACTIVITY / WORK PLAN
The work plan will focus on the specification, development and integration of methodologies for specifying and developing edge/cloud/IoT computing middleware.
5.APPLICABLE LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS
Research Fellowship Statute, approved by Law no. 40/2004, of 18 August; Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, approved by Regulation no. 950/2019, published in the 2nd series - Part C, of the Diário da República, of December 16, 2019, Regulation of ISEP Research Grants, Decree-Law No. 66/2018, published in Diário da República No. 157/2018, Series I of 16 August, which approves the legal regime for the recognition of academic degrees and higher education diplomas awarded by foreign higher education institutions and Decree-Law No. 60/2018, of 3 August, which simplified administrative procedures necessary for carrying out research and development activities, all in their current wording.
6.SCIENTIFIC ORIENTATION AND WORKPLACE
The work will be developed at ISEP, under the scientific guidance of Prof. Luis Miguel Pinho.
7.MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE
Monthly scholarship value: €930.98, paid by bank transfer (according to the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia table of values: https:// www. fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.pt), supported through the PAD's number C60761.
8.METHODS OF SELECTION AND JURY COMPOSITION
The assessment should focus on and consider the following criteria:
1) Adequacy of qualifications to the intended area/profile (20%)
2) Adequacy of the activities listed in the curriculum to the intended area / profile (50%)
3) Interview (30%)
Notes: Candidates may be excluded from the contest on the following grounds:
a) Because they do not have the qualifications and requirements required in the tender notice (point 2.);
b) Candidates who score less than 9.5 in any of the evaluation components are considered excluded from the tender procedure, not being evaluated in the following component(s);
c) The failure of the candidate to attend the interview or even the unavailability of the same to provide any additional clarifications that may be requested, is equivalent to withdrawal from the competition.

9.METHOD OF SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications must be formalized, obligatorily, by email sent to [email protected] by sending the following documents:
- Curriculum Vitae;
- Certificate of Qualifications / Document proving ownership of the academic degree and diploma, of the respective recognition when awarded by foreign higher education institutions or document proving the request for recognition;
- Other supporting documents considered relevant by the candidate to assess the adequacy to the area/profile.
If the qualification has been granted by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decreto-Lei No. 66/2018, of August 16, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the time of hiring.
10.DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications are received from the 1st August to 18th september 2023
11.METHOD OF ADVERTISING/NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS
The results of the evaluation will be announced via email, to the email address indicated in the application process.
12.CLAIM AND APPEAL PROCEDURES
If the result is unfavorable, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the disclosure of the results of the candidacy evaluation, to express their opinion, if desired, in the hearing of interested parties, under the terms provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure.
A hierarchical appeal may be filed against the final decision referred to in the previous numbers, to the President of ISEP, within 15 working days after the respective notification.
13.SELECTION RESERVE
The ISEP reserves the right to appeal to unselected candidates, in order of ranking, to hire a scholarship holder for the same project if the initially selected candidate withdraws.
