Subject description The “Speciation, Adaptation and Co-Evolution” research group is recruiting a researcher to work on questions at the interface of plant-pollinator interactions and community ecology. The project is led by Dr. Øystein Opedal and will combine new and existing original data with statistical method development to better understand the factors affecting pollinator-mediated plant-plant interactions in co-flowering communities. The successful applicant will be encouraged to help develop the project in new directions in collaboration with the project team, and the exact project plan will be adjusted based on the background and interest of the applicant. The position is for 11 months starting on the 1. June 2023, or as agreed.

Work duties The main duties involved in a researcher position is to conduct research.

Detailed description of the work duties

  • Active participation in the scientific design of the project
  • Contributing to field work, compilation of data from the literature, and statistical method development
  • Analysis of multivariate data including phenotypic-selection analyses
  • Supervision of MSc projects
  • Dissemination of results through presentations and scientific publications
  • Actively seeking external research funding
  • Qualification requirements

  • A PhD degree in Biology
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English
  • Expertise in evolutionary ecology, community ecology and/or development of relevant statistical methods
  • Background in evolutionary botany, especially studies of plant-pollinator interactions
  • Experience with multivariate statistical analyses is advantageous
  • Assessment criteria and other qualifications The assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers. Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.

  • Terms of employment This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of 11 months.
