Offer DescriptionApplications are open for 1 Research Studentship (for students of a course that does not award an academic degree), within the framework of project HAVATAR - PTDC/EEI-ROB/1155/2020, financed by national funds through FCT
Workplan: The candidate will develop methods of computer vision and machine learning, specifically reinforcement learning, to monitor the therapeutic sessions of autistic children that integrate humanoid robots (e.g. NAO). The tasks include data acquisition, processing, and curation; reinforcement learning methods for assessing the behavioral response of the subjects and predict the robot's response; design of a protocol for controlling the NAO robot to interact during the session
Duration: The research fellowship will have the duration of 8 months. It's expected to begin in July 1st 2023, and may eventually be renewed.

Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https:// www. fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is €1199.64, being the payment method an option of the Fellow by Wire Transfer/Check.

Selection process
Selection methods : The selection methods will be the following: Curriculum evaluation (80%) and past experience (20%).
Composition of the selection Jury : Dr. Catarina Barata; Dr. Plínio Moreno López, and Prof. Alexandre Bernardino.
Announcement/ notification of the results : The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.
Deadlines and procedures for prior hearing, complaint and appeal: After communicating the provisional list with the results of the assessment, candidates have a period of 10 working days to express their opinion in the preliminary hearing of interested parties, pursuant to articles 121 and following of the Code of Administrative Procedure. The final decision will be rendered after the analysis of the statements presented during the preliminary hearing of interested parties. Regarding the final decision, a complaint may be filed with the competition Jury, or an appeal to the President of IST-ID, within 15 working days of the respective notification.
