Executive summary of the Coherence 4D project:
The COHERENCE4D project aims to develop a new paradigm for modelling, visualisation, interaction, and maintaining the coherence of 4D digital twins (DT) interfaced to physical systems that evolve over time.
The project's work involves the development of a decision support system using an AI (Artificial Intelligence) capable of analysing the real/virtual gaps in order to decide on the updating to be carried out.
Coherence 4D project aims to provide the DT functional blocks integrated into a demonstrator. A global approach will be validated through proofs of concept (POCs) on case studies and scenarios related to the maintenance of manufactured products, the reconfiguration of production systems, and quality control on the production line.
Main tasks and activities of the concerned positionThe objective of the person recruited will be to propose a “methodology guide” for assisting and helping DT stakeholders in their needs of updating. It means to help DT stakeholders to select and integrate the resources (e.g. hardware and software) for acquiring the multimodal data needed to maintain a good representation of the digital twin.
The methodology guide will notably help the stakeholders to: (i) identify alternative choices according to the acquisition technologies available and the levels of performance (ii) take into account the problems of interoperability with machine controllers and Industrial IoT (iii) give recommendations on the frequency of acquisition.
Literature reviewFor this, the literature review will be done and will enable to catalogue the existing methodologies and approaches of multimodal data acquisition which could be exploited to address the specified scenarios of maintenance of the coherence of the twin.
Proposition of a DT” methodology guide “The “methodology guide” will be a collaborative platform available online. The person recruited has to design the concepts and the data model of the guide and to develop it. The guide should be exemplified (instantiated) with practical examples coming from the partners of Coherence 4D and usually of UTC.
Some followings requirements have to be addressed to design the “methodology guide” :
This task aims at validating the methodological guide on scenarios on academic cases. It is question of validating that the needs associated with the scenarios are well satisfied. On the functional blocks side, the aim will be to test them separately on the technologies available with the partners of the Coherence 4D project.
Implementation of acquisition interfaces and development of the guide (assisted by a service offering)
The practical examples of the guide involves implementing functional blocks of multimodal data acquisition integrated in a common demonstrator of the coherence 4D partners. This task will be coordinated by the UTC in connection with a service offering.
Work environment and contextThe position is located at the mechanical engineering department (Roberval laboratory) and within the product/process integrated systems research team. The Coherence 4D project is led by the ENSAM (L'École nationale supérieure d'arts et métiers centre d'Aix en Provence) and has as partners, Grenoble INP, AMU (Aix-Marseille Université) and UTC.
The person recruited is supervised by the UTC persons in charge of Coherence 4D project. He/she has to maintain a regular dialogue with them and with the partners of the project and all the concerned interlocutors.
Some travel is to be expected as part of the project
