  • Mission :

    Consider and compare approaches for extending the technical capabilities of the laboratory's hydrodynamic testing facilities, with focus on the ocean engineering wave tank.

    Primary tasks and responsibilities :

    - Develop an international state of the art for hydrodynamic testing facilities.

    - Animate and organize continuous discussions with the involved researchers and engineers.

    - Carry out a literature review of existing academic and industrial testing related to each intended possible feature

    - Conduct a prospective study on the future requirements for hydrodynamic tests for both academic and industrial needs in the sector of naval construction and marine energy.

    - Define technical specifications addressing scientific constraints.

    - Propose test protocols and facilities, and evaluate their performance through computer simulation.

    - Prepare technical specification documents and performance metrics.

    - Incorporate safety, operational security and sustainable development criteria into the definition of the test facilities.

    - Plan the development of a new testing tank.

    - Design procedures for installing and commissioning the new test tank and equipment.

    Secondary tasks and responsibilities

    - Present and promote the project's findings.

    - Write technical specification documents.

    - Ensure quality control measures are in place.

    - Promote the work of the department and contribute to a positive working environment.

    - Establish scientific and technical monitoring.

    Occasional business travels expected, in France or internationally, for visits of hydrodynamic facilities.

  • REQUIRED EDUCATION LEVEL
  • Engineering: Master Degree or equivalent

  • REQUIRED LANGUAGES
  • FRENCH: Basic

    Skills/Qualifications
  • Have a good command of engineering science and techniques relating to testing (automation, informatics, mechanics, electronics, instrumentation).
  • Know how to combine components from different technological domains.
  • Have knowledge appropriate to test tanks (fluid mechanics, solids, hydrodynamics, oceanic engineering, naval engineering).
  • Be familiar with computer simulation tools for fluid mechanics.
  • Be familiar with the working environment and professional networks relating to tank tests.
  • Have good written and oral communication.
