star­ting as soon as pos­si­ble. The posi­tion is limi­ted until Decem­ber 31, 2024. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz-WissZeitVG). Balan­cing family and career is an important issue. As the Rese­arch Coor­di­na­tor of the Cen­ter for Humane Tech­no­logy, you will coor­di­nate sci­en­ti­fic col­la­bo­ra­tion and con­tent deve­lop­ment. Your tasks will include: 1) 30% depart­ment deve­lop­ment and inter­na­tio­nal exch­an­ges 2) 20% coor­di­na­tion bet­ween divi­si­ons, con­cep­tua­li­za­tion, and orga­ni­za­tion of work­shops/ con­fe­ren­ces/ etc. 3) 20% con­tent deve­lop­ment and stra­tegy/ grant pro­jects 4) 30% rese­arch (data collec­tion and on design prac­tices and stra­te­gies) With regard to the orga­ni­za­tion, the coor­di­na­tor estab­lishes the link bet­ween doc­to­ral can­di­da­tes, princi­pal inves­ti­ga­tors, the board and the advi­sory board and rea­li­zes regu­lar and goal-ori­en­ted inter­di­sci­pli­nary exchange for­mats intern­ally and extern­ally. With regard to the con­tent-rela­ted work, you will imple­ment the stra­te­gic ori­en­ta­tion of the depart­ment and pro­vide regu­lar input for its fur­ther deve­lop­ment. Fur­ther­more, you will pro­vide data for the eva­lua­tion of the depart­ment. In addi­tion, you actively col­la­bo­rate with the Inter­di­sci­pli­nary Navi­ga­tors to initiate new pro­jects from the schools and inte­grate them into the exis­ting or to be expan­ded rese­arch struc­ture. Moreo­ver, you will bundle results from the depart­ment's rese­arch pro­jects to place them in the con­text of the lar­ger rese­arch frame­work and thus cen­trally con­tri­bute to the deve­lop­ment of an over­ar­ching rese­arch com­pen­dium. Also, you will coor­di­nate the depart­ment's exten­sive inter­na­tio­nal exchange pro­gram in terms of orga­ni­za­tion and con­tent. This posi­tion would be sui­ta­ble for rese­ar­chers inte­rested in doing rese­arch work that uti­li­zes the data from the activi­ties at the cen­ter exami­ning design-rese­arch as a field.

A uni­ver­sity degree, at least a rese­arch ori­en­ted Mas­ters, pre­fer­a­bly a PhD in fields such as Design Stu­dies, History of Sci­ence, Sci­ence Tech­no­logy Stu­dies, Media Stu­dies or other rese­arch fields like Engi­nee­ring and Design as well as Huma­nities and Social Sci­en­ces. App­li­cants with rele­vant expe­ri­ence in pro­ject manage­ment and con­duc­ting rese­arch pro­jects are pre­fer­red. We also have an inte­rest in can­di­da­tes with any rele­vant expe­ri­ence in the design of sys­tems and orga­ni­za­ti­ons, rese­arch in the field of human-machine inter­ac­tion, or work on envi­ron­men­tal stu­dies, design, or archi­tec­ture. Can­di­da­tes should have a strong inte­rest in the field of sci­ence com­mu­ni­ca­tion and inter­di­sci­pli­nary col­la­bo­ra­tion pro­ces­ses. You should have excel­lent oral and writ­ten com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills in Eng­lish and good Ger­man lan­guage skills. The abi­lity to work in a team, orga­ni­za­tio­nal talent, as well as high moti­va­tion and initia­tive, are indis­pensable pre­re­qui­si­tes for the suc­cess of the depart­ment.
