At the Faculty of Mathematics, the Institute of Mathematical Stochastics offers a position as
Research Associate / PhD Student (m/f/x) (subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
starting on April 1, 2023. The position comprises 50% of the fulltime weekly hours and is limited to a period of 3 years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).
Tasks: As part of your doctorate, you will conduct research on a topic from the areas of stochastic processes (in particular Lévy/Feller/Markov processes) or stochastic analysis. Your position includes teaching in accordance with DAVOHS (Saxon Ordinance on Official Duties at Universities) in the Bachelor's and Master's courses offered. You will also support the institute in the acquisition of third-party funding projects and in administrative tasks.
Requirements: University degree in mathematics, preferably with a focus on probability theory.
