Functional Foods Forum (FFF), part of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Turku, is a research unit with locations at Turku and Seinäjoki. Along with scientific food research, FFF runs projects and offers services to food industry to promote innovations and to enhance profitability, competitiveness and internationalization. Multidisciplinary Flavoria® lunch restaurant and research platform is at the core of our activities.
FFF invites applications for a fixed term Project Researcher / Doctoral Researcher position. The position is for a person with a Master's degree, aiming for doctoral degree.
The project researcher will be working with the food research group, led by professor Anu Hopia, focusing on the Strategic Research Council funded project “Biodiversity respectful leadership”. The project aims at developing methods to ease the accommodation of more sustainable diets. The position starts as agreed between the parties.
A successful candidate has a profound interest in researching human food choice. The candidate's master's degree can be e.g. in psychology, sociology, nutrition or food science (list not exhaustive). The candidate should show a keen interest in working with food related topics in a multidisciplinary research field, and be persistent by nature. We expect a good working English; knowledge of Finnish language is an advantage.
If the selected candidate does not yet have the right to study for a doctoral degree at the University of Turku, the title Project Researcher will be used at first and the contract is valid until 31st of May 2023. The study right for a doctoral degree should be applied in the next possible call.
The task-specific salary is determined in accordance with level 2-4 of the teaching and research staff demand level map of the universities' salary system, the task-specific salary component amounting to 2108, 40 – 2628, 85 euros per month. In addition to the task-specific salary component, a salary component based on personal performance is paid, which adds up to a maximum of 50 % of the task-specific salary component.
The position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period.
