Offer DescriptionPresentation of the Circulades key challenge
The Circulades challenge is a research consortium supported by the Occitanie region as part of its "Key Challenges" program.
The Circulades challenge finances the BiogazOvert project, which focuses on the valorization of biogenic CO2. This project is led by the Charles Gerhardt Institute in Montpellier (ICGM), the Toulouse Inter-University Center for Materials Research and Engineering (CIRIMAT) and the Acteurs, Ressources et Territoires dans le Développement (ART-Dev) laboratory.
The BiogazOvert project
The circular economy is characterized by a transformation of social and economic practices guided by the three Rs paradigm (reduce, reuse and recycle), and by greater proximity between stakeholders in value chains (reduction of transport-related pollution). The valorization of waste for biogas production is part of this logic. This project proposes to take a further step towards a more circular economy by assessing the recovery methods for a material resulting from biogas purification and hitherto considered as a waste product: biogenic CO2. From a chemical and technical standpoint, four families of complementary catalysts are proposed to transform this CO2 into molecules of interest. From a socio-economic point of view, a study of the biogas industry in the Occitan region will be carried out to identify the conditions for deploying these methods. The post-doctoral contract is part of the latter work package.
This post-doctoral contract is part of the socio-economic package. The analysis of the Occitan biogas and bio-methane sector will be carried out using the framework of Technological Innovation System, defined as the network of agents interacting in a specific technical field and within its own institutional structure, with a view to generating, disseminating and using a technology. This system will be analyzed using functional analysis, with the aim of breaking down the complexity of the system in question and facilitating comparison with other European territories already studied in the literature.
Post-doctoral work will focus on conducting field surveys in Occitanie to obtain qualitative data on the innovation system. These data will feed into the functional analysis of the innovation system in which the recruited person will participate. Finally, a prospective evaluation of the Occitan industry will be carried out to assess its propensity to converge towards a (more) circular model.

The person recruited will work in the ART-Dev laboratory (UMR 5281). The ART-Dev joint research unit is multidisciplinary, combining geography, economics, sociology, politics, agronomy, regional planning, urban planning, architecture and anthropology.
Its scientific project is structured around 4 axes: Axis 1, Rural trajectories: models, practices and policies; Axis 2, Environment and climate change: Governance, Resources and Conflicts; Axis 3, Circulation and anchorage : practices, networks et territorial reconfiguration; Axe 4, development models and alternatives, served by 130 members, from five supervisory bodies CNRS InSHS Institut National des Sciences Humaines et Sociales, Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3, CIRAD (Centre International de Recherche sur l'Agronomie et le Développement), Université de Montpellier, Université de Perpignan Via-Domitia and an associated team, CEREQ (Centre d'Études et de Recherches sur les Qualifications).
The postdoctoral work will be carried out within the Biogazovert project. This implies the participation of the person recruited in working meetings and research seminars within this project and within the Circulades research consortium.
Field missions accompanying this research work will be financed by the Biogazovert project.
