Offer Description

Research area:

Deposition of oxide thin films (including those doped with rare-earths) by sputtering, chemistry and physics of solid state/inorganic materials, material sciences and related fields of study

Job description:

Complex study of rare-earth doped oxide thin films as perspective materials in sensing. Preparation of thin amorphous films using magnetron sputtering. Characterization of fabricated thin films in terms of their optical properties, surface properties and structure.

The Postdoc will actively participate in experimental work as well as in processing and analysis of experimental data.

  • PhD Diploma, or its nostrification
  • Certificate of an English language exam – passed as a part of study or a declaration of a passed English language exam from the institution granting the PhD. Degree2
  • List of publications concerning the last 3 years (to the date of May 1st, 2023)
  • List and a brief description of research projects (national and international) in which the applicant participated within the last 3 years (specifying the position and number of months), to the date of May 1st, 2023
  • Brief description of the applicant´s current research incl. its relevance and usefulness for the field of study
  • Reference of a previous supervisor or head of research team in which the applicant participated
  • All the above documents will be given in English. The diploma or its recognition and the Certificate of English language examination can be submitted in Czech or Slovak. Documents in a language different from Czech, Slovak or English, must be submitted in a certified translation into one of these languages. Simple copy (printed or electronic) is sufficient for the selection procedure.

    The applicant is required:

  • To be a postdoc, i.e. research worker within 7 years of gaining the PhD or its equivalent1 (ISCED level 8) to the date of May 1st, 2023 and
  • Will submit his/her sufficient list of publications (listed in the databases Thomson Reuters Web of Science, Scopus or ERIH PLUS, types of publications including “article”, “book chapters”, “letter” and “review”) – at least 2 items within the last 3 years (to the date of May 1st, 2023),
  • To have successfully finished the PhD study in the field chemistry or physics of solid state/ inorganic materials, material sciences or related fields of study,
  • To be familiar with and experienced in the preparation of oxide thin films using magnetron sputtering, characterisation of amorphous thin films (optical properties, surface, structure),
  • To have excellent knowledge of the English language (written as well as spoken).
