Offer DescriptionZeolites constitute more than 40% of the total solid catalysts used for oil refining, petrochemical processing, and organic synthesis. The remarkable performance of zeolites in catalysis and separation processes is related to their well-defined pores and structural characteristics, tuneable chemical compositions, high surface areas, ion exchange capability, and tailorable Brønsted/Lewis Acidity/Basicity. The interest in nanosized zeolites is apparent. By decreasing the crystal dimensions, a reduction of the diffusion length and improvement of the mass transport are expected. The reduction of the zeolite crystal size is anticipated to avoid unwanted secondary reactions and coke formation. Additionally, easier coke removal from the catalysts is expected as it is a diffusion limited reaction. Furthermore, the nanozeolites provide a surplus of opportunities for developing catalysts with desirable properties due to the numerous combinations of crystal size (from several unit cells to several nanometres), morphology, framework structures, and Si/T ratios.
The synthesis of nanozeolites in suspensions and high solid (without addition of water) colloidal precursors will be performed using ligands and buffers. The synthesis in solid colloidal precursors (water-free) will be possible by ensuring sufficient water released from the condensation of the T-sources and the presence of buffers. The extremely low water content will affect the kinetics of hydrolysis and condensation stages. Incorporation of templates will ultimately affect the defects at short to long range crystalline order.
Strategic development of nanomaterials by exploring new synthesis routes. The post-doctorate will be in charge of the development of novel methodology for synthesis of nanosized porous materials. A particular attention will be paid on the new properties related with the versatility in chemical compositions, framework structures and extra framework cations.
The project will take place within the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant ERC-2021-ADG (101054004): ZEOLIghT” Dual challenges in the discovery and sustainability of nanozeolites: controlling defect sites and structural flexibility" managed by Dr. Svetlana Mintova (CNRS Research Director, Caen). The work will be carried out at LCS - Laboratoire Catalyse & Spectrochimie (https: // www. lcs.ensicaen.fr) located in Caen (France). The LCS has built its reputation on the preparation of zeolites and related porous materials, operando spectroscopy and catalysis, combining very strong poles in synthesis of porous materials and spectroscopy. The contract is established for a period of 12 months that can be renewed for another 12 months.
