Offer Description

Applications are open for two (2) Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships, within the Centre for Mathematical Analysis, Geometry and Dynamical Systems (CAMGSD), UIDP/04459/2020, financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC

Workplan: development of specific activities of scientific research within the pluriannual funding of the project CAMGSD (UIDP/MAT/04459/2020) and in the areas of differential equations and dynamical systems, or geometry and topology, including string theory and mathematical physics.

Duration: Each research fellowship has the duration of 12 months. The appointment is expected to begin in September 2023. The fellowship contract cannot be renewed.

It is mandatory to formalize applications in portuguese or english with the submission of the following documents:

i) B1 Form – Fellowship application (https: // ist-id.pt/concursos/bolsas/ );

ii) Curriculum Vitae;

iii) academic degree certificate;

iv) two letters of recommendation;

v) motivation letter;

vi) scientific Project in the areas of differential equations and dynamical systems, or geometry and topology, including string theory and mathematical physics;

vii) declaration on honor that the applicant does not exceed with this contract an accumulated period of three years in this type of fellowship, continuously or with interruptions, within the technological and scientific system, and that the research work that led to the PhD degree was not carried out in the host institution of the fellowship.

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https: // www. fct.pt/wp- content/uploads/2023/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM2023.pdf), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is €1741, the payment options being Wire Transfer or Check.

Selection process

Selection methods : The selection is based on the following criteria: curricular and scientific evaluation (50%), letters of recommendation (30%), motivation letter and scientific project proposal in the areas of differential equations and dynamical systems, or geometry and topology, including mathematical physics and string theory (20%). A candidate will only be eligible if he/she receives a total score above 60 points (scale 0–100) by a majority of the members of the Selection Committee.

Composition of the Selection Committee : the committee will be composed of the following members of CAMGSD, all professors at IST: Carlos Rocha, Pedro Resende, João Pimentel Nunes, Juha Videman and Hugo Tavares.

Announcement/notification of the results : The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.

Deadlines and procedures of complaint and appeal. A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification
