You will work in the Novel Advanced Nano-Objects (NANO) team gathering chemists and materials scientists, who are joining to perform cutting edge research in nanochemistry, with the aim of developing new nanomaterials. This position is opened in the frame of the ERC project GENESIS headed by David Portehault, who is experienced in solid-state chemistry, nanomaterials synthesis, characterization and properties.
We are aiming to develop a synthetic methodology inspired by Earth sciences, to design nanomaterials able to perform efficiently some electrocatalytic reactions relevant to tackle pressing energy and environment issues. Topics can vary depending on the expertise of the candidate. Areas of interest include colloidal synthesis of nano-objects, molten salts chemistry, solid- state chemistry, very high pressures synthesis, advanced materials characterization (TEM, in situ methods involving synchrotron radiation like XRD, XAS…), electrocatalysis (water splitting, CO2 reduction…), machine learning and structure prediction.
At LCMCP we are developing basic and applied research in materials science addressing some of the most urgent challenges of our societies, from energy crisis to medicine. We are searching for ways to understand how materials form in Nature, how to design new materials, how to process them and how to target specific properties and applications. Our lab is affiliated to CNRS and Sorbonne Université, two prestigious research institutions in France and worldwide. It is located in the center of Paris on the campus of Sorbonne Université.
Eligibility criteria- PhD in chemistry of materials - Expertise in materials characterization and/or synthesis - Good publication record - Good level of English (written and spoken) - Independent thinking and time management - Ability to actively participate in a collaborative, inclusive and multicultural team - Additional: experience in solution chemistry and nanoparticles synthesis, electrocatalysis
Additional commentsCompetitive salary. The grant also covers health care. Sorbonne Université holds a specialized team to help foreigners to manage French paper work. In your application, please including the contact details of 2 references, and a cover letter mentioning one paper of the team and why you liked/disliked it
