This studentship is offered in conjunction with UCA's Centre for Sustainable Design, led by Professor Martin Charter. There are now over 2500 repair cafes worldwide. Proposals are invited that examine the rise and significance of repair cafes as vehicles of global citizen activism focused on transforming civil society in the Circular Economy. The successful candidate will investigate both UK and international repair cafes, possibly in collaboration with the Repair Café International Foundation. Their research will have implications for local and national policy makers, town councils, citizens, and repair cafes themselves. The successful candidate will work in the Centre for Sustainable Design and undertake some teaching activity as part of the studentship.
