The graduate school ‘Tailored Scale-Bridging Approaches to Computational Nanoscience' (DFG RTG 2450) addresses the development and application of multi-scale approaches to the scientific challenges of friction, materials aging, material design and biological function.
In detail, one scientific aim is to understand and model degradation channels in organic electronics such as bis-carbazole-biphenyl (CBP) with an emphasis on excited states properties and relevant chemical reactions using ab-initio methods (P2). A different topic would be multiscale simulations of single site catalysis in porous materials. The main responsibility of the doctoral researcher would be an investigation of the catalytic reactions with high- level ab initio calculations (P3).Starting date

We are seeking PhD students with strong backgrounds in physical/theoretical chemistry, computational physics/chemistry, and programming in FORTRAN. The PhD students will work in teams on one of the mentioned projects covering a variety of computational tools necessary to tackle the involved length- and timescales.Salary
