The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. Your responsibilities include:

For the research in the field of lithium-ion battery (LiBs), our team is looking for a new member to work on a PhD topic on LiBs analysis using modern methods. You will work on:

  • Identification and quantification of electrolyte components of different LiBs cell types with chromatographic methods (HPLC, GC) coupled with e.g. mass spectrometry
  • Investigations on the chemical alteration of electrolytes by specific aging and damage scenarios, and correlation of the results with electrochemical studies such as impedance spectroscopy (EIS)
  • Deassembly of different LiBs cell types and separation of the electrolytes
  • Publication of the results in scientific journals and presentations at conference
  • Your qualifications:
  • Successfully completed university studies (diploma/master) in the field of chemistry or comparable
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of analytical chemistry, e.g. chromatography
  • Interest in electrochemical and analytical issues
  • Interest in interdisciplinary work
  • Good English skills
  • Good communication and information behaviour, initiative/commitment, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate, flexibility as well willingness to learn
