PhD student (m/f/d) in the field of chemistry or a related field

The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and analytical sciences.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Investigations of mechanisms for initiation of energetic materials by electrostatic discharge in a new series of environmentally friendly explosives
  • Scientific publications, presentations
  • Dissemination of results
  • Your qualifications:
  • Successfully graduated from university (master/diploma) in chemistry or a related field with a very good degree
  • relevant experience in organic synthesis is required
  • Interest in the investigation of energetic materials
  • Knowledge of ab initio simulations is desirable
  • Very good oral and written communication and information skills in German and English
  • Goal-oriented and structured way of working, initiative/commitment and ability to make decisions, willingness to learn as well as conceptual and innovative thinking skills
