PhD student (f/m/d) - Cryo-ET studies of membrane trafficking -
We are looking to recruit a PhD student for exciting projects in cryo-ET studies of membrane trafficking.
We are a small international team based at Max-Planck-Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences in Göttingen, Germany. We aim to understand how molecular machines select cargo and drive the formation of transport carriers within the endosomal network. In our research, we use cryo-ET and subtomogram averaging to get detailed snapshots of reconstituted and endogenous molecular machines assembled on the membrane. Requirements Candidates must have an M.Sc degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related fields, including at least six months long qualification research project. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential for this position. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in protein expression and purification, mammalian cell cultures, cryo-electron microscopy and digital image processing.
Position details We offer a fully funded position for an initial period of 3 years. Payment and benefits are based on the German Public Service Payscale (TVöD Bund) guidelines. The successful candidate will enrol in a PhD program at Göttingen Graduate Center for Neurosciences, Biophysics, and Molecular Biosciences (GGNB).
