The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University is one of the largest and strongest environments for both theoretical and experimental research in physics and astronomy. The department is strongly involved in research carried out at national and international research infrastructures for which we also develop and manufacture advanced instruments. The High Energy Physics Division focuses its research on three areas: collider experiments, neutrino experiments and particle theory.

Duties We are looking for a PhD student to collect and analyse data from the LHC with the ATLAS experiment, and to develop analysis tools for future colliders. Candidates should be prepared to spend time abroad for data collection and meetings. Tasks will include simulation, reconstruction, analysis and interpretation of data.
Requirements To meet the entry requirements for doctoral studies, you must
A basic knowledge of programming, for example with python, is required. You need to be able to speak and write English fluently. Ability to work both independently and in groups is also required.
Additional qualifications Experience in analysis related to particle colliders is desirable.
