The Institute for Ion Beam Physics and Materials Research is dedicated to the study of materials and their nanostructures that can be considered for future applications in information technology and are based on electrical, magnetic or optical functionalities.
As part of the Institute, the Department of Ion Beam Centre invites applications as PhD student (f/m/d) lnteraction of highly charged ions with 2D-materials and gas targets.
The position will be available at the earliest possible date. The employment contract is limited to three years.
Your tasks:Conduct experimental investigations on the interaction of highly charged ions (HCI) with ultra-thin layers and 2D-materials
Systematic measurements and characterization of the transmission behavior of HCI when passing through gas targets
Focus of the announced positon is set on systematic experimental investigations with HCI and thus requires comparatively little theory
Very good graduated degree (Diploma / Master) in Physics, Material Science or similar degree in natural science
Experiences in one or several of the following areas: Ion beam physics, surface science, 2D-materials, or materials science
Very good teamwork skills with ability to collaborate both with experimentalists and theorists
Very good English language skills (spoken and written)
