PhD position on Human-AI interaction at the IT University of Copenhagen
The IT University of Copenhagen invites highly motivated individuals to apply for a PhD position starting 15 December 2023 or soon thereafter.
The position is funded by a Novo Nordic Foundation grant led by Associate Professor Jichen Zhu.
We invite applicants who want to contribute to the IT University's vision of creating and sharing knowledge that is profound and leads to groundbreaking information technology and services for the benefit of humanity; and to contribute to the Digital Design Department's research themes on care, creativity, participation, data and AI.
Job description This interdisciplinary project aims to make contributions to the emerging area of human-AI interaction, the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction and Machine Learning, in the domain of health and well-being. It seeks to understand and reimagine new ways for regular end users to interact with AI applications enhanced by explanations created by eXplainable AI (XAI).
Recent advancements in AI and machine learning (ML) have the potential to transform personalized health and well-being. However, regular end users, especially those without technical backgrounds, often face increasing challenges to fully utilize the technology. Even with the rise of XAI to increase AI's transparency and interpretability, end users still struggle to make use of this highly technical information. The overall goal of this project is to address the lack of user considerations and interaction/UX design explorations in human-centered XAI.
The candidates should have a Master's degree in areas related to one of the following: Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, AI/Machine Learning. The ideal candidate should have:

Salary and terms of employment Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Taxation's agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) and job structure for academic staff at Universities.
Qualification Requirements The following qualifications are required:
