Your tasksIn the context of the Horizon Europe project "REDEMOS: REconfiguring EU DEMOcracy Support –Towards a sustained demos in the EU's Eastern Neighbourhood", the Institute of Political Science at the University of St. Gallen invites applications for a PhD Position in the research group of Professor Tina Freyburg. The aim is to develop a new concept for democracy collaboration, in which the conditions of national democracy development are more strongly integrated into the approaches of European democracy promotion. In St.Gallen, we primarily study the images associated with EU democracy promotion prevalent within the European Commission and among its Eastern partners and explore how they shape the policy actions policy agents in both EU institutions and Eastern partnership countries.
REDEMOS involves 11 leading universities and think tanks from across Europe. The successful candidate will be involved in all parts of the project and supported in developing their own single-authored publication projects as well as in contributing to co-authored publication projects. S:he will become a full member of the Institute for Political Science at the University of St.Gallen as well as the REDEMOS consortium.
The starting date is negotiable. The position would be limited to 3 years, with the possibility of extension. We accept applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
