Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world's top 100 universities. The University has around 46 000 students and more than 8 000 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

Subject description

The research group works with ultrafast spectroscopy to study light-induced processes. Specifically, in this project, laser spectroscopy is applied to study photocatalytic CO₂ conversion. The aim is to understand the process and guide the material design. The long-term target is a system that can use energy of sunlight to convert CO₂ to fuel.

Work duties

The PhD student will be working in a multidisciplinary group which involves, besides laser spectroscopists, also material scientists and theorists. The main responsibility is ultrafast spectroscopy. We envision also experimental campaigns at large-scale facilities like MAX IV. Experimental data analyses and interpretation will be an important part of the work.

Qualification requirements

Master degree in Physics, Chemical Physics, Molecular Spectroscopy, Optics, Physical Chemistry or equivalent. Very good oral and written proficiency in English. Good communication skills and high level of independence.

Additional requirements:

  • Experience in spectroscopy and data analysis is highly meriting.
  • Computer programming is meriting
  • Assessment criteria and other qualifications

The assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their educational background and potential as researchers. Particular emphasis will be placed on the skills within the subject. Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence.
