  • The ITN ROPES (ROles of ePitranscriptomic in diseasES) aims at understanding the impact of epitranscriptomic RNA modifcations in disease development. Inosines are introduced in double stranded RNAs by adenosine deaminases acting on RNA. Inosines have been shown to mark endogenous RNAs as "self" to distinguis them from double stranded RNA viruses. Different ADARs exist in mammals that have overlapping functions. Interestingly, only one ADAR isoform is critically required to mark endogenous RNAs as "self". In this project we aim at identifying RNAs and their editing patterns that mark them as "self". We will also aim at developing site directed RNA editing to manipulate endogenous RNA editing events. Technically, we combine mouse genetics with cell biology and molecular techniques including NGS technologies.
