The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.
The faculty's research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers six Bachelor and twenty Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.
Your Role...The PhD student will be part of a dynamic research team working on a large- scale mixed-methods project on youth and digitalisation, focusing on life chances and inequalities in the digital society. The main task will be to prepare a PhD thesis in this area, mainly based on the analysis of data from the Youth Survey Luxembourg (YSL). The PhD candidate will have the opportunity to engage in policy-relevant analysis and knowledge sharing with stakeholders.
The candidate will contribute to the preparation and implementation of the next wave of the YSL. This representative, large-scale survey covers a range of social and economic issues and is of great importance to researchers and policy makers.
The PhD student will work in the Youth Research Group of the Centre for Childhood and Youth Research (CCY) at the Department of Social Sciences. The CCY consists of a multidisciplinary research team that investigates the conditions and opportunity structures of growing up against the background of social change and inequalities. It maintains close links with other institutes and relevant organisations within and outside the university, both nationally and internationally.
